E-mail Broadcasting and Tracking
A web site to can be proactive as well as a static medium. Reaching your customers by e-mail is one of the best and highly cost-effective means of doing so.
Broadcasting
Generally speaking a list of email addresses is stored on the web site in a database and used to issue emails. The e-mails themselves are generated from a template and by using an online form similar to a Content Management System to add text and sometimes images.
The e-mails are then scheduled for despatch and issued, generally overnight when traffic to the server is lowest.
Tracking
Being able to view the response to your e-mail broadcast takes your customer marketing to another level. Analysing the success of any marketing campaign is paramount to future development.
To do so the response to the emails are monitored. Such tracking can never be 100% accurate as some of the methods it employs can be disrupted by the IT set up of the recipient. However it provides the best means of providing relative success levels. Some of the tracking includes:
- Identifying which e-mails have been opened
- Recording bounced, or undelivered, e-mails
- Recording who followed a link in the e-mail, which link and time of first click
- Recording who used a form in the e-mail, which form and time of first click
Advanced Functions
A range of further functions make the system a slick, usable and highly effective marketing tool:
- Campaign Management
- Contact lists
- E-mail Address lookup
- Despatch alerts

Anyone for Spam?
Spam, or junk e-mail, is a very serious problem on the Internet. The Vanbar Multimedia package avoids being identified as spam but it is also very import to use permission marketing, asking the recipients if they want to receive the e-mails and giving them the ability to opt-out at any point.
